A Casual Note on Today's Activites

This post is REALLYYYY LOOOONG so I won't force you to read it (not like I'm ever going to force you to read what I write/type). It's a weird post and if you read all of it I congratulate you.

Hehehe hahaha, I can’t believe I was actually trying to find a clever way to sum up what this “journal entry” will be about.  Sure “A Casual Note on Today’s Activities” isn’t the cleverest of titles per say, yet it seemed to be the only simple yet slightly “well-written” title I could come up with. Truth be told, my head is a bit mushed up with information on Leonardo da Vinci. You see, I have a global project that I must complete (because I intend to move on to the tenth grade next year) and so I must complete an annotated bibliography. I know I should be using the time I am using now to work on my project but I just needed to let my thoughts out in hopes of liberating myself from this massive headache I feel will kill my brain cells one by one… figuratively speaking I hope.

Leonardo da Vinci was my first choice on people I was hoping to write a biography on for global and so I honestly am very excited to be doing this project. Yeah… I’m weird. Right, ‘cause no one enjoys writing a three page biography on a person that has long been dead (bibliography not included). But somehow, I’m looking forward to this project because I’ve admired da Vinci since the third or fourth grade. Usually it’s easy to listen to music while I write but I find even that a nearly impossible task right now (sorry Il Volo, I truly love your music though!). No doubt this project will have me speaking Italian in the end. Anyways, I remember doing a project on this man in the third or fourth grade, which has sparked my interest in the greatest of artists and inventors since then. Unfortunately, my previous project consisted of more pictures and animations than actual information, so that won’t be of use.

I must admit that that’s not why I chose to write about the events in my life today; I am wishing to express some of my concern on this project, specifically on the research part, which is what I should be doing write now instead of writing these very words right now. Leonardo da Vinci was a man that had a mind far more advanced than the science of his time. I mean, really, this man had the greatest mind of all time in my humble opinion. The good thing is that there is tons of information on him, including books, internet sources, etc. The bad part about that is that there is too much information that I find it slightly irritating to have to scroll down hundreds of pages on Google and find one that is not only accurate and reliable; I must find one that I understand. Historians should know that 9th graders are in need of a website that’s written in a manner that they will understand what is being said. Their promotion to the tenth grade is at stake here!! Overdramatic behavior aside, I need to find a good .edu source. I found this website that has what appears to be great information and so I hope my teacher accepts a .org site. I also plan on visiting Barnes and Noble or my sister’s college’s library. I’ve recently added “The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci” to my Books I Plan on Buying before I Graduate from High School. It seems like a fascinating book. Then again, these are the notebook entries written by da Vinci himself so I have little faith that my diminutive knowledge on the English language, sciences, and arts will help me read even the first five pages. Anyhow, I will attempt to read it, even if it means inviting a historian or Leonardo scholar to my apartment (with my mom’s permission of course). But my biggest concern is that when I find those three good sources, they won’t help me much. I should’ve known before putting da Vinci as my first choice, and the irony of this in comparison to me is making me chuckle, that he rarely finished what he started. I feel the need to panic now. With this appalling revelation in mind, I conclude this ridiculously long entry. Perhaps I’ll play Temple Run after printing this out. Cheers to the one week break! (Sarcasm slightly intended).
